Cloud Gate A sculpture By Anish Kapoor

Cloud Gate is a public sculpture by British artist Anish Kapoor of Indian origin, which is the centerpiece of the AT & T Plaza in Millennium Park piece in the area of ​​community Loop Chicago, Illinois. The sculpture and AT & T Plaza are located on top of Park Grill, between the Chase Promenade and McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink. Built between 2004 and 2006, the sculpture is made of 168 stainless steel plates welded together and polished exterior has no visible seams. It measures 33 by 66 by 42 feet , and weighs 110 tons.


Cloud Gate is located between Lake Michigan to the east and the west loop, Grant Park has been Chicago's front yard since the mid 19th century. Its northwest corner, north of Monroe Street and the Art Institute, east of Michigan Avenue, south of Randolph Street and west of Columbus Drive, had been Illinois Central rail yards and parks until 1997, when it was made ​​available for development by the city Millennium Park. For 2007, the park was the second largest tourist attraction in Chicago, Navy Pier behind.
